SapienStone countertops

The purpose of a countertop in Porcelain tile is not only to complete the kitchen furnishing harmoniously: besides styling and design, other characteristics such as resistance, practicality and functionality are important. The processing of natural raw materials, combined with the use of leading-edge patented production techniques, makes it possible to obtain high-tech materials characterized by typical full-body effects, a feature that has always been the exclusive hallmark of quarried marble and stone. Chromatic variations, veining and speckling or small holes are thus prized characteristics of SapienStone materials.

Resistance to heat

Heat resistance is extremely important for a kitchen top, since frequent contact with hot pans, coffee pots or utensils could, in some cases, ruin the counter. Porcelain tile surfaces are resistant to high temperatures and thermal shock in accordance with EN14617, to wet heat in line with EN12721, and to dry heat in line with EN12722.

Resistance to scratches

Porcelain tiles are unquestionably the hardest material among those on the market and due to their innate resistance are an excellent choice.

Cleaning of GRES SapienStone countertops

Ordinary cleaning

For ordinary cleaning, simply use a damp microfibre cloth and a pH-neutral liquid cleanser. AVOID using abrasive sponges, scourer, bristle brushes and cleansers containing hydrofluoric acid and its derivatives. Also avoid detergents containing waxes and/or brighteners.

Not ordinary/special cleaning

For stubborn stains, use a soft sponge and a specific cleaning product. It is very important that the detergent product on the surface does not evaporate. After using any type of cleaning product, always rinse thoroughly.

Precautions for use

• It is always advisable to carry out a preliminary test on a hidden area or on a remaining piece of slab.

• It is always good practice to promptly remove any kind of stain from the countertop, especially those that are particularly dirty, such as coffee, red wine, juices, etc.

• On glossy or polished surfaces, avoid using abrasive powder or paste detergents, abrasive sponges and scourer. • In general, it is recommended never to use acids or very strong alkalis.

• In the case of dirt difficult to remove with sponges and microfibre cloths, the use of melamine foams (commonly known as “magic sponges”) is recommended.
