Quartz Worktops

Material made from a coarse, medium, or fine grain quartz mixture, featuring gray-black-colored speckles (depending on the requested material code). The potential presence of white, black, gray, or colored micro-intrusions is a specific characteristic of this type of material.

Characteristics of the Structure

It is impossible for any product derived from a mixture to guarantee 100% homogeneity across the entire surface of the slab; therefore, any areas where the mixture appears less dense than others should not be considered a defect but rather a specific characteristic of slabs made with a medium-fine grain. Any variation in coloration (lighter or darker) between different production batches is a variable that must be accepted, as it is an intrinsic characteristic of producing slabs with homogeneous white coloring.

Physical and Mechanical Characteristics

Quartz-based material is suitable for kitchen countertops, as technical quartz is stronger than natural marble. Quartz material possesses mechanical strength and durability sufficient to support weights and stresses that may occur in a normal household environment (it is not designed to bear the weight of a person or large appliances like industrial mixers, etc.).

Quartz-based material is produced through vibro-compaction, meaning it undergoes pressure during the slab formation process, which can leave tensions that resolve a few hours after pressing and are fully completed during critical transformations (cutting, drilling, polishing, etc.), as powerful and invasive machinery is used.

The tension in quartz-based countertops never manifests after installation and leveling on kitchen bases (i.e., horizontal support). Quartz-based material is NOT self-supporting and must always be placed on a base (e.g., kitchen module) designed to support the weight of the countertop (50 kg/m² for 2 cm thickness, 75 kg/m² for 3 cm thickness). The countertop must be mounted flush, and there should be no flexing or twisting, as this may cause it to break.

Being a zero absorption and zero release material, it is comparable to glass and, as such, is sensitive to thermal shock; therefore, the use of trivets is always recommended.

Cleaning quartz countertops

The material is quartz-based and is suitable for creating kitchen countertops. Being a rigid material like glass, it is sensitive to thermal shock; therefore, it is recommended not to place objects that have just been removed from heat directly on the surface. In such cases, use trivets.

Cleaning Instructions

  • For accidental spills, simply absorb the liquids with paper towels and wipe with a soft cloth dampened with warm water.

  • For grease or oil stains, use a kitchen cleaner (degreaser) and let it sit for 30 seconds. Rinse with warm water and dry with a cloth.

  • For limescale stains, it is advisable to pour Viakal onto the surface and let it sit for 1 minute. Then rinse with water and dry.

Precautions

Do not use bleach, paint solvents, or alkaline products for cleaning.
